German BioCompany grew more than 8%

In 2016 BioCompany increased compared to the previous year by 9 million euros (8.2%) to 145 million euros. The other companies of the BioCompany Group, Havelland Bio and Midgard Naturkost, had a revenue of around five million euros.

The dennree group has reported that in 2016 its consolidated net turnover came to 920 million euros -  a gain of 100 million euros, which equates to ca. 10% compared with the year before.

The turnover of organic food grew strongly in Germany in 2016. This was reported by the Bund Ökologische Lebensmittelwirtschaft (BÖLW) and the Arbeitskreis Biomarkt  prior to the launch of BioFach.

In recent years Ukraine has attracted attention mainly on account of two issues connected with organic agriculture in Germany. First, an increasing proportion of organic fodder in Europe is being covered by imports from Ukraine. And second there are cases of residues and also fraud concerning the big and complex organic trade structures in the south of Ukraine, and they have never been completely cleared up. The end result is a very one-sided and  rather negative image of the country. The following contribution shows that organic in Ukraine is, however, also very vibrant and diverse and that organic products are becoming increasingly popular in the country itself. The domestic market is constantly growing.

The store with its big restaurant reminds you in its concept and offer of the US-American Whole Foods Markets, and you find organic brands from the west on the shelves. Western food is in great demand in China. Shanghai has a number of organic delivery services as well.

The organic market in France has been growing steadily for years. Turnover in the whole organic sector has now reached €5.5bn (preliminary estimate for 2015), which equates to growth of 10% compared with 2014. The number of companies in the organic industry, from organic farmers, processors and wholesalers to retailers, has risen to 42,216, a pleasing expansion of 7.2%.
