Italy: Organic food delivered by bicycle

One can choose from 3,700 articles at the stores of Almaverde Bio Market in Milan, Reggio Emilia, Parma and Bologna that have recently been launched. The stores offer a wide range of products from water to beer, from baby food to items for people with food intolerances as well as fresh products, of course. To show a particular commitment to the towns where the stores are located, specialities from small companies of the area are offered. Everything is certified organic.

Once the shopping is done, all purchases can be delivered to one’s home. In line with the philosophy of wellbeing and a green life style that is the basis of Organic Food Retail, the articles are supplied in cooperation with local partners that only use the bicycle for transport, Green Planet reports. Almaverde Bio Market has chosen Triclò for Milan, Urban Bike Messenger for Bologna, Green Courier for Reggio Emilia and La Sajetta for Parma, the company of Andre Saccòn, who is well-known for his green lifestyle in Italy.

In each store, there is also an area to taste products – a bistro with a kitchen where the products from the shop can be discovered and where organic menus are offered. Partner for the food space is Luciano Monosilio, the chef of the Food Genius Academy, who was awarded a Michelin star. He creates special recipes for the meals and a wide range of dishes and meals - from appetisers to desserts as well as lunch and sandwiches – is offered. More information is available here.
