According to the manufacturer of organic cosmetics and natural remedies, consolidated provisional sales in 2017 amounted to around 401 million euros, compared with 390 million euros in the previous year. Internationalization is the most important growth driver, the company says.

Turnover of natural & organic cosmetics worldwide rose by 4.2% to around 292 million euros. While sales in the main markets of Germany, Austria and Switzerland rose by only about 1.4 percent, sales in other regions such as the USA increased by 7.5 percent. According to a press release, Weleda's expanded deodorant line particularly contributed to the growth of new Weleda products. In the area of natural remedies, sales amounted to around 109 million euros and changed slightly compared with the previous year.

The net financial assets of the organic cosmetics manufacturer amounted to around 47 million euros at the end of 2017 and were thus considerably improved (2016: 43 million euros). For the coming year, Weleda expects single-digit growth in the natural cosmetics segment and stable sales of pharmaceuticals. The company cites the USA, Western Europe and South America as important growth regions.

Further awards for sustainable business

Again in 2017 Weleda received awards for operating a sustainable business. As well as the special prize of the CSR Prize awarded by the German government in recognition of sustainable supply chain management, the company received the Global Responsible Business Award and the Green Brand Seal (Germany) for sustainable management. In a survey of 11,500 consumers' favourite among 250 brands in Germany Weleda came twenty-ninth.
