USDA invested 1 billion into organic sector

Statistics of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) show that the US retail market for organic products is steadily growing an reached $39 billion last year. Almost 22,000 organic operations are counted. The USDA invested $ 1 billion into 40,000 food businesses and infrastructure projects, stream lined organic certification processes, created an online one-stop-shop for operators and provided free access to market and pricing information.
Soil Association chief executive Helen Browning highlighted a very positive time for organic food and farming as well as a strong government leadership and encouragement from Michelle Obama. According to Soil Association UK´s organic market is set ot break the £2 billion mark this year."
