In the organic sector of Ukraine one can observe qualitative transformations, in particular, the number of companies which offer processed products is growing. The Ukrainian National Pavilion will be presented at BIOFACH for the 5th time.

In the organic sector of Ukraine one can observe qualitative transformations, in particular, the number of companies which offer processed products is growing. “Today organic producers have a clear understanding that high-technology companies have significant advantages both at the Ukrainian and international markets. For that reason, the companies do not only focus on the sustainability of their production but also on optimization of the infrastructure, use of modern equipment and effective logistics,” says Kateryna Shor, Project Manager of Information Centre “Green Dossier”.

Record number of participants

At this year´s BIOFACH Ukraine will not only present the record number of participants - the number of exhibiting companies has grown from 8 to 20 - but also with the biggest share of processing companies. “The exhibiting companies tend to shift their focus from the raw materials production to processing as well as expanding their product range. Thus, when in previous years almost all the exhibitors of the Ukrainian National Pavilion were cereal producers, now, out of 20 exhibitors, 4 companies are berry producers and processors, 3 oilseed producers and processors, 1 tomato paste producer, 1 tea producer, 1 certification body and 9 cereal producers, a part of which also offers processed products,” noted Sergiy Galashevskyy, Director of Organic Standard Certification Body.
The tendency to introducing interesting organic products cannot only be observed among the Ukrainian exhibitors at BioFach but also among the Ukrainian organic producers in general.

For example, one of such processing companies, participating at BioFach for 7 years and being one of the biggest suppliers of hulled millet at the EU market, is Agrofirma “Pole”.  The company annually export 5,000 tons of hulled millet and its products (millet flour, cracked hulled millet, millet shells, etc.). The company is now working on introducing innovative products, in particular, a new product was developed – organic millet germ oil. This year Elitphito will present its product – an interesting oil mixture called Men’s Health - within the BioFach Novelty Stand (a separate stand of innovative products).
