The German food retailer Tegut now sells almost 2,000 more organic products via the Amazon service Prime Now. In total, a full range of 6,000 articles is available online - and the trend is rising.

The cooperation between Tegut and Amazon is not new. The food retailer from Fulda, Germany, which belongs to the Swiss company Migros, has been working with the online giant since March 2017. Tegut products were already available via Amazon Fresh, but also via Prime Now.

Now the online shop of Tegut has been switched to the Prime-Now website. Prime customers can choose from Tegut's full range of around 6,000 products, including fresh foods, frozen foods, beverages, pet food, personal care and household products. More than 1,800 articles are organic, for example from Alnatura or Gepa.

10,000 products by year-end

Tegut intends to expand its range of products in the Amazon Prime Shop to around 10,000 products by the end of 2020. It is not yet known how high the proportion of organic products will be.

Tegut managing director Thomas Gutberlet: "Especially the last months of the Corona crisis have shown how important it is to be able to shop from home and have everyday products delivered."

According to a press release from Tegut, the new service will initially be available to customers in the Darmstadt and Frankfurt/South regions. For Amazon, it is the first expansion of the Prime Now service in Germany. In 2016, the online retailer launched Prime Now in Berlin and Munich. In Berlin, organic retailer Basic had a full product range delivered via Amazon Prime Now from April 2017, but terminated the partnership after one year.
