Takeover of Monsanto forces Bayer to sell assets

From media reports we learn that, in order to get the green light from the cartel authorities for mega merger of the German chemical giant Bayer and GMO giant Monsanto, the German corporation Bayer must divest a part of its plant protection business.

For reasons of competition, Bayer is having to sell the Liberty Link technology and the related Liberty herbicide business. As the corporation reports, this is a requirement imposed by the South African cartel authority. Monsanto and Bayer want to see the takeover signed and sealed by the end of the year.
