The Swiss agriculture organization Syngenta has generated less sales and a smaller net profit during the first half of 2017. The concern's sales have stagnated most notably in Latin America.

During the first six months of 2017, Syngenta obtained sales worth 6,92 bn US-Dollar, this equates to a minus of two percent compared to 2016. The net gain decreased by 13 percent to 928 m US-Dollar. Pesticide sales decreased with five bn US-Dollar by five percent. However, concerning seed material, with 1,6 bn US-Dollar, Syngenta achieved a sales plus of five percent.

In Latin America, sales have receded by 18 percent. In a note, Syngenta states that high stocks in Brazil’s distribution channels have reduced the demand of crop protection products. In Asia and the Pacific area, sales have declined by one percent, while sales in North America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East remained unchanged.
