Spain: BioCultura Barcelona a full success

The 22nd edition of BioCultura Barcelona, the fair for organic products and responsible consumption, closed its doors with a farewell until next spring. The number of visitors was outstanding during the four days of the show that took place from 7 - 10 May, arriving to limit the permitted capacity on Saturday and Sunday. Ángeles Parra, director of BioCultura, stated: "It is clear that people are waking up. The commitment to a healthy lifestyle is unstoppable, and BioCultura Barcelona is already a great reference of the organic market in the whole Mediterranean area."

A total of 72,000 people visited the Palau Sant Jordi. The good weather and the presence of the firms that are making green consumer trends helped overcome previous edition records of both visitors and exhibitors. 700 exhibiting companies were at the fair. The managers of the companies showed their great satisfaction with their high volumes of sales, business contacts and other achievements. Visitors did not only enjoy the stands, but also close to 400 activities that were organised in parallel. They included lectures, workshops, discussions, professional meetings, scientific presentations, conferences and more. The eleven rooms open for the events were mostly filled with public activities. This year, the fair also featured an outdoor area where catering, music performances, recreation areas and more could be found, contributing to create a fun and festive environment.

Besides for food novelties, visitors showed a particular high interest in natural cosmetics and organic textiles. As usual, BioCultura also thought of the consumers of tomorrow for which MamaTerra was organised - the green festival for kids - where various activities like workshops, make-up sessions, cooking, performances, concerts, games and more could be enjoyed. The next edition of BioCultura will take place from 2 to 4 October at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre. More information is available from http://www.biocultura.org/
