Saudi Arabia: after the oil comes the green gold

Saudi Gazette announced the opening of the Saudi Agriculture & Saudi Agro Food 2016 Exhibition on the 2nd of October in the capital, Riyadh. Over 350 companies from more than 31 countries participate at the event. Going into its 35th year, this year’s edition focuses on organic farming and its products. In addition,  the focus on fish farming is based on the government’s new vision which aims to achieve sustainable food security, according to the event’s homepage

The event is held by Saudi Agrofood, that for the 23rd time will gather the region’s leading professionals in the agriculture and food industries in order for one another to benefit from exclusive business opportunities in the food processing and packaging industry. The Saudi Food Pack is having its 6th International Trade Exhibition for Food Processing & Packaging Technologies. Saudi Food-Pack showcases a vast array of equipment and solutions from manufacturers as well as distributors of tools, machinery and services that are essential for food production and packing, not to mention their displays in stores and outlets.

Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Hussan, Secretary General of theSaudi Organic Farming Association said to the Saudi Gazette, “The Saudi Organic Farming Association's mission is to develop the organic farming in Saudi Arabia and support the marketing of its products, in addition to increasing awareness on the proper techniques used in agriculture production and the optimal use of natural resources.”
