Students can now submit their theses for the Organic Food Industry Research Award. The winners will receive several thousand euros in prize money.

The application phase for the "Bio Thesis – Organic Food Industry Research Award" runs until October 14, 2022. Students who have dealt with organic food as part of their final thesis (bachelor's or master's degree) can participate.

The work should deal with a topic related to the production, processing and marketing of organic food, or deal with aspects of sustainability such as environmental and social compatibility. English-language papers that relate to or have links with the food industry in Europe may also be submitted.

More supporters sought

Bachelor's and master's theses completed in 2021 and 2022 will be considered for the awards ceremony at the Biofach and Vivaness 2023 dual trade fair. There is prize money of 3,000 euros for the best master's thesis and 2,000 euros for the best bachelor's thesis.

The research award has been honoring work related to the organic food industry since 2014. The aim is to promote the enthusiasm of young people for the industry. The sponsors are Lebensbaum Foundation, AÖL, Biofach, Schweisfurth Foundation and the Alliance for an Agriculture Fit for Grandchildren, of which bio verlag, where Organic Market is published, is also a member.

Several sponsors support the award. However, more supporters are being sought. A funding period lasts one year from March 1 to Feb. 28 of the following year, according to the biothesis.org.
