OFS as model and living laboratory

Organic food systems are regarded as a model of sustainability and they can provide examples of continuous improvement and the integration of science and research. With its partner organisations and well known personalities promoting its cause on every continent, the OFSP (Organic Food System Program) is helping to share the benefits of organic methods with interested initiatives and across the whole of society.
David Gould, Programme Facilitator at IFOAM – Organics International says: “We have to direct our thinking away from the food chain and towards food systems. More people should become aware of the connection between agriculture and food. Together with institutions they play an active role in putting healthy food on the table. To do this, they should be enabled to to make informed decisions and thereby create incentives for better practices.”
