With the takeover of Eisblümerl Naturkost GmbH, Midsona Deutschland GmbH (Davert) contributes to the growth strategy of the Swedish Midsona Group. The production capacities of Eisblümerl in Lauterhofen are to be expanded.

Eisblümerl is a 20-year old company with an annual turnover of 10 million Euros and 40 employees based in Lauterhofen (Upper Palatinate). They produce organic nut, nougat and chocolate spreads. The purchase price amounts to 7.8 million Euros.

Nut and chocolate spreads for the European market

In addition to the existing manufacturing and processing expertise in the areas of ready meals, cereals, legumes, rice, oilseeds and cereals at the Davert site in Ascheberg (Westphalia), in the future, the Eisblümerl site will develop and market nut and chocolate spreads for the organic pioneer brands of the Midsona Group in the Nordic market (Urtekram and Kung Markatta) as well as in Spain (Vegetalia) and France (Celnat).

Further additions to the portfolio

The former acquisition of the two pioneering organic brands Celnat (France) and Vegetalia (Spain) already gave the Midsona Group its own manufacturing expertise in the area of chilled ready-made vegetable dishes (Vegetalia) and the production of speciality flakes (Celnat). In addition, these two well-established organic trade brands give the Midsona Group access to the Spanish and French organic market. The acquisition of the Swedish start-up Ekko further adds innovative vegetarian frozen products to the Midsona portfolio.

Market leader in the North

With its organic brands Urtekram, Kung Markatta and Helios, Midsona is market leader in the Nordic countries. With Davert, it additionally owns a leading organic producer of cereals and dry goods in Germany. In 2018, the Swedish company achieved a turnover of around 266 million Euros. The previous managing partners of Eisblümerl, Dietmar Langner and Stefan Aster, will continue to work for the company as managing directors or in an advisory capacity respectively.
