According to Middle East Organic & Natural Products Expo in the Middle East the Organic F&B market is expected to be worth $18.42 Billion by 2022, showing a 14.4% CAGR growth from 2015. The growth can be seen in a variety of sectors, such as retail, wholesale and HoReCa.

Astonishing increase in purchases

The rise of natural and healthy F&B has been noticeable in the 60% increase in retail shelf space over the past 5 years. Some retail chains that supply organic produce in UAE saw an astonishing 200% increase in purchases as of 2016.

The Middle East is seeing its fastest growth in demand for food and beverage (F&B), spurred by an ever-increasing population. The Gulf Co-operation Council countries’ food imports alone is estimated to reach $53.1 billion by 2020, with most of them importing anywhere from 70%-90% of their food needs.

Promoting healthy foods to youngsters

The population is predominantly comprised of expatriates from countries with a history of natural health and culinary traditions and the shift to more natural, chemical free raw ingredients. UAE, especially serves as the business hub of the region, with 2019 seeing the launch of a retail competition promoting healthy foods to youngsters, encouraging chain retailers to source natural and organic FMCG products.
