Else Bünemann-König took over from Paul Mäder as head of the Department of Soil Sciences at FiBL Switzerland on September 1st. She is also a member of the FiBL Switzerland Executive Committee.

Else Bünemann-König is a biologist with a PhD in agricultural sciences and has been with FiBL Switzerland for seven years. "As head of the department, I am looking forward to continuously improving organic agriculture. My knowledge as well as my experience should help the team to continue to provide excellent research as well as advice," says Else Bünemann-König. She is convinced that biological mechanisms can be used much more to increase the efficiency, sustainability and resilience of soil-plant systems.

Agricultural research

For the past 32 years, Paul Mäder has held a leading position in soil science at FiBL Switzerland and has been a member of the FiBL Switzerland Executive Committee since 2013. He will remain with FiBL Switzerland as a staff member and devote himself to agricultural research with a reduced workload, as well as sharing his knowledge and experience in teaching at the University of Basel.
