Italy: Milano Fair Cuisine – Fair and local

Milano Fair Cuisine is an initiative that aims at promoting ethical consumption in restaurants. On occasion of the World Fair Trade Week 2015 at Milan from 23 to 31 May, food products from fair production that are sold in the Botteghe del Mondo (fair trade shops) all over Italy are used as ingredients for the recipes in important restaurants in the city and also in other parts of Italy. In 2015, Milano is the “world capital of Fair Trade”. Therefore, various important international events take place, among which is the Ethical Fashion Show from 22 to 24 May 2015. From 24 to 27 May, the global conference of the World Fair Trade Organisation will follow. Milano Fair City will take place from 28 to 31 May - this event open to the public features about 240 exhibitors from all over the world, including Italy. Ethical fashion, organic food, gastronomy and street food are in the focus of the fair. The 5th Fair Trade International Symposium is centred around Critically Developing the Fair Trade Movement: Trade Justice in Food, Fashion and Craft. More information on the events is available here.
