Italy: Bio Bank edition on organic catering and canteens

The Italian specialized publisher Bio Bank published a new edition of Focus Bio Bank. Hot topics are data and informations on the sector of organic catering and organic food in canteens.

In 2018, the ministerial decree that encourages organic canteens, including certification, came into force. Their role is in fact strategic not only as a path of food education and as an investment on the health of children and the environment, but also as an increasingly important commercial market  for organic producers, informs a Bio Bank press release.

A fund of 44 million euro up to 2021, managed by the Ministry of Agricultural Policies, has been set up to implement information and promotion initiatives in schools. But above all to reduce the costs of the service to be paid for by the customers.  

Turning to organic, the costs of the final meal increase by an average of 20%. In order to be able to invest in quality, it is necessary to make  the whole system more efficient.  This is the challenge in progress, where information plays a strategic role as a decision-making tool, explains Bio Bank.
