According to a press release, the 86th International Green Week (IGW) 2021 will take place exclusively as an industry meeting due to the Corona pandemic.

Concerning the present situation, the organizers had decided to adapt the concept of the IGW and to concentrate the offer only on specialists, explains Green Week project manager Lars Jaeger. “The International Green Week is a special experience for visitors. […] [We] will be unable to offer all these things in the customary manner due to the coronavirus pandemic and the resultant safety and hygiene regulations” said Jaeger.

However, an exchange between representatives of agricultural and nutritional science is urgently needed in view of current challenges. “At the International Green Week 2021 we want to create a platform for agricultural policy dialogue” the press release states.

The new concept and the topics for the IGW industry meeting 2021 are currently being developed with the German Farmers' Union (DBV), the Federation of German Food and Drink Industries (BVE), and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture. In addition, Messe Berlin is drawing up a hygiene and safety concept that will be coordinated with the relevant health authorities.

The next public International Green Week is scheduled for 21 - 30 January 2022.
