The Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) is a locally focused quality assurance system built on trust, social networks and knowledge exchange. In the south of India there are some interesting examples.
The enterprise Last Forest is an initiative of Keystone Foundation – both located in Tamil Nadu state, South of India. Keystone has been working in the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve (NBR) since 1993 with indigenous communities on eco-development initiatives.
Keystone and Last Forest will be at the Biofach, as part of the PGS Organic Council booth - from 9th to 11th November. Last Forest will also be at the Fair Utsav from the 8th to 13th November as part of the World Fair Trade week.
