IFOAM - Organic International releases annual report

IFOAM – Organics International have released their annual report. The title of the 2014 report “Organics International” reflects the diversity of their global membership, friends and supporters, as was apparent during their 2014 Organic World Congress and General Assembly held in Istanbul, Turkey. It is also an allusion to their new logo, launched earlier on this year and featured for the first time on an annual report.

The year 2014 proved important in expanding IFOAM – Organic International’s relationship and credibility with the UN and its organisations. The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is funding their Intercontinental Network of Organic Farmers Organisations (INOFO) leadership and mapping project, where the next generation of organic farming leaders from Africa, Asia and Latin America is trained. The project is also developing a list of all organic farming organisations in the world, which will help them expand their reach and membership.

Proof of a strengthened relationship with, for example, the FAO, can be found in the numerous invitations IFOAM – Organics International received to speak at their key events, e. g. at the agroecology conference in Rome.  The International Year of Family Farming was celebrated in 2014. IFOAM – Organics International were actively involved in the organising committee, and staff and World Board members participated in several events. IFOAM – Organics International were actively involved in advocacy linked to the International Year of Soils, are continuing active in and around Organic 3.0 and are in the process of organising events that will offer the opportunity to learn about and exchange on some of the most pressing issues of our times. The full report is available here.
