IFOAM EU: 12th European Organic Congress in Vienna

IFOAM EU invites interested parties to its 12^th European Organic Congress ‘Organic on every table: Added value for farmers, consumers and society’ taking place in Vienna, Austria, from 25^th-26^th September 2018.

Within different plenaries and sessions, the congress’ participants and speakers will discuss key developments in Europe’s food and agriculture policies in detail. Further, the congress’ program provides participants with useful ideas on how stakeholders and policymakers can work together to improve the livelihoods of farmers and rural communities, while at the same time protecting the environment and human health. The focus will be on how to make the food and farming sector more resilient, so that it can better cope with mounting environmental and socioeconomic pressures of the coming decade.

Among others, the following stakeholders will contribute to the event’s program:

• Josef Plank, Secretary General of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Sustainability and Tourism, representing the Austrian EU presidency
• Tassos Haniotis, Director, Strategy and Policy Analysis at DG Agriculture, representing the European Commission
• Herbert Dorfmann, Member of the European Parliament, and rapporteur on the CAP
• Pekka Pesonen, Secretary General, Copa-Cogeca, representing European farmers and agri-cooperatives
