German drugstore leader dm has more than 1000 organic products

The organic food range of the leading German drugstore dm continues to grow and has now reached around 1000 articles. This was announced by the company based in Karlsruhe at its annual press conference. They said that their own brand dmBio accounted for more than 350 articles. Dm is working on getting more dmBio products certified in compliance with association criteria and is expanding its cooperation with Naturland.

Since May the products of the Berlin supplier Veganz have been available at dm across the whole of Germany. The convenience products of Davert are similarly on sale in the 1,825 dm stores. Managing Director of dm, Christoph Werner, is seeing a positive response from customers.  “We've undertaken a sensible expansion of our organc range with our own brand dmBio, established manufacturers like Davert and innovative suppliers like Veganz."

Werner pointed out that dm has expanded its range in more than the food segment. In recent weeks four new natural cosmetics brands have been added in the personal care segment. With i+m, Sante, Dr. Bronner and Nonique dm has found young but also experienced partners. He said that customer demand and the trend to cosmetic products with natural or even vegan ingredients proved there is good reason to introduce the new offer.

Turnover is growing by 7% across the whole company

In the financial year 2015/2016 dm again recorded growth in turnover. The company grew in Germany by 6.6 % and increased its sales by 467 million euros to almost 7.5 billion. Turnover in Austria and south-east Europe rose by 8.1% to 2.2 billion euros. Thus dm as a whole increased its revenues by 7% and achieved turnover of approximately 9.7 billion euros. Werner reported that last year 104 outlets were added to its tally of stores.
