France: Natexpo shows latest trends for for organic retailers

For the first time, the French trade fair for natural and organic products NATEXPO - from 22 to 24 October at Paris Nord Villepinte exhibition centre - is shining a spotlight on the latest developments relating to new services and equipment dedicated to specialist organic retailers. This new sector at the show is comprising more than fifteen exhibitors and will offer visitors the latest trends in the fields of store fittings, packaging or technology developed to improve the customer experience.

Today organic shops should not only offer organic food but should also avoid food waste and save packaging. These typ of shops is booming in France, explain the NATEXPO organizers. "French and international retail professionals will thus have the opportunity to find all the newest solutions to help them stand out from the competition, in particular by placing emphasis on conviviality, proximity, loose goods, environmental, awareness, etc.", says NATEXPO.
France is the second largest consumer market in Europe for organic products after Germany. The organic sector is developing very well. In 2016 the sales of organic food in France rose by 23.7% to reach turnover of 2.5 billion euros. NATEXPO is organised at the initiative of Natexbio, the French Federation of the Organic Sector, member of the IFOAM EU network, with the support of its member associations Synadis Bio, Synadiet and Synabio.

NATEXPO president Benoît Soury explained in an interview: „At a time when our sector dealing in production, processing and retail of organic food, dietary supplements and cosmetics has conquered new heights in growth and vitality.“ He emphasizes that the market for organic products across all distribution channels continued to grow by an astounding 14.7% while food consumption in France in general experienced quite weak growth in 2015/2016, standing at between 1.3% and 1.4%" Also organically-farmed areas and those under conversion grew strongly.

The trade fair will gather 750 exhibitors, 20% international, from 26 countries on a 35% larger exhibition area. Around 12,000 visitors were expected, 14% international from 76 countries.
