Organic fairs and meetings around the world

There is almost no food fair where organic doesn't play a more or less important role. More and more pure organic fairs are created. In the middle of planning the year 2013, the question arises which fairs and events to visit in Europe and around the world. From regional to country fairs, global events or specialised expos, there is in the mean time a very big choice for organic food or ecoproducts. Here is an overview on some of the most important occasions in 2013.

You might have wished to start the year in Germany with Die Internationale Grüne Woche (The Green Week), the world’s biggest fair for food, agriculture and horticulture, that took place in Berlin from 18 to 27 January 2013. On 19 January 2013, the demonstration/ tractor procession against industrial farming “Wir haben es satt” (We’ve had enough), also took place in the German capital. From 23 to 24 January, BioVak 2013, the trade show for the entire organic sustainable chain, was held in Zwolle (Netherlands). Returning to Germany, Fruit Logistica will be the meeting place for the fresh produce trade in Berlin from 6 to 8 February. As every year in February, the international fairs BioFach and Vivaness will attract exhibitors and visitors from around the world to Nuremburg, Germany, from 13 to 16 February 2013. During BioFach and Vivaness a lot of events, like the celebration of IFOAM-EU 10th birthday will take place as well as an enormous congress program. From February 22 to 24 The BioCultura, the largest fairs for ecological products and responsible consumption in Spain, will start with the Valencia fair. The French Salon International de l'Agriculture”, the international fair for agriculture, celebrates its 50th birthday this year. This edition of the fair will take place from 23 February to 3 March 2013, and during the fair Agence Bio will organize its international seminar on 28 February. Staying with the subject of birthdays: the German edition of Organic-Market.Info, Bio-Markt.Info will celebrate its 10th birthday in March!

A new edition of Bio Foodle, the fair for natural and organic products, health and nutrition, dietary products and bio-construction, will be staged in Charleroi in Belgium from 1 to 3 March 2013. BioAgra, the trade exhibition for organic farming, will return to Plovdiv, Bulgaria, from 5 to 9 March 2013. Biologica in Athens will take place from 7 to 10 March in Greece and Natural Products Expo West - at the same time - in California.
 

From 7 to 8 April, Natural and Organic Products Europe (picture) will draw exhibitors and visitors to London. Alimentaria, the fair dedicated to food and drink, distribution and the hospitality sectors, will be the largest business platform in Portugal from 14 to 17 April 2013. The Barcelona edition of BioCultura will run from 25 to 28 April 2013. Valériane Bruxelles in Belgium will be held from 19 to 21 April 2013. At the same time, the Biostyl 2013 - its 8th edition – will be staged in Prague in the Czech Republic.

The 4th edition of Ecology Izmir, Turkey’s leading trade show for organic products, invites organic stakeholders from Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Near and Middle East and Africa to Izmir in Turkey from 16 to 19 May 2013. From 23 to 25 May, BioFach China will take place in Shanghai, and from 24 to 26 May the fair for ecological products Ekogala 2013 will bring together exhibitors and visitors in Rzeszów in Poland.
 

The largest gathering of the organic sector in Central and Eastern Europe is the Organic Marketing Forum in Warsaw, Poland (picture: Organic Marketing Forum 2012). The first Bioimpact – organic products virtual fair – will be organized by the Spanish enterprise "in-cloud" from 24 to 28 June 2013. BioFach América Latina / Bio Brazil Fair 2013 will draw visitors to São Paulo from 27 to 30 June 2013. From 8 to10 July 2013, organic actors in Europe will convene in Vilnius in Lithuania for the 7th IFOAM European Organic Congress. From 7 to 10 September 2013, Sana, the international exhibition of organic and natural products, will take place in the Italian town Bologna. This will be the 25th edition of the fair. BioFach America - Organic Products Expo will then follow in Baltimore from 26 to 28 September 2013.
 

BioCultura in Bilbao will hold its launch event from 4 to 6 October 2013. From 5 to 9 October 2013, Anuga, the world’s leading food fair for the retail trade, food service and catering market, will take place in Cologne, Germany. Then, Natexpo, the trade show for organics, health food and ecological products will follow in Paris from 20 to 22 October 2013. After its successful launch in 2012, Natural Products Scandinavia will return to Malmö from 20 to 21 October 2013.

Tokyo will host BioFach Japan from 31 October to 2 November 2013 (picture: BioFach Japan). BioCultura in Madrid will be held from 14 to 17 November 2013. Exhibitors and visitors to BioFach India together with India Organic experience the Indian organic products market in all its facets in Bangalore from 14 November to 16 November 2013. Food Ingredients Europe and Natural Ingredients - in its 25th anniversary this year, will be staged in Frankfurt, Germany.
