The Dutch start up entrepreneur Charlotte zum Vörde Sive Vörding with her brand Charly´s All is Fair presented her start up at the IFOAM EU Procssing Congress in Zwolle, Netherlands. She talked about environmental costs of dairy, the growing vegan community and vegan businesses, about health and animal advantages and why start ups and larger businesses should join forces to make the world a better place through food.

Charlotte´s arguments are: vegan is better for animals, environment and health. When she made a deep research on dairy production she was just shocked. The produstion of milk and cheese costs enormous amounts of water  and produces a lot of carbon dioxid. But people, especially the Dutch don´t want to give up cheese.  She started Charly´s All is Fair with a range of vegan cheese creations from almonds, sunflower seeds and cashew. People like the vegan recipes and by now Charlotte is selling Charly´s in health food stores and at restaurants in the Netherlands as well as in Belgium.

Veganism has become trendy: in the netherlands the number of vegans has grown from 16,000 to 70,000 in the last 20 years plus 700,000 vegetarians and 55% o the population being flexitarian. In the UK and in Germany already 1% of the population is vegan according to recent statistics.
