Danone´s reasons to go organic

by Editor (comments: 0)

According to the The Wall Street Journal Danone’s CEO Emmanuel Faber said in an interview with Wall Street Journal that from his personal view a major driver for expanding the organic market is that the current food industry neglects the growing problems of both obesity and malnutrition, and ignores the effect of the agricultural system on soil health.

The French Danone Group, with turnover of  22 billion euros in 2015, is one of the biggest food corporations in the world. It focuses on fresh dairy products (Actimel, Gervais), bottled water (Evian, Volvic) and baby food (Milupa). This summer the corporation took over of the US American manufacturer WhiteWave. The WhiteWave Group contains the US-companies Horizon Organic premium dairy and pantry products, Silk plant-based foods and beverages, Earthbound Farm organic produce and International Delight and Land O'Lakes coffee creamers and beverages and the Belgium milk substitute specialist Alpro and its organic brand Provamel(we reported).
