The Scottish Government has announced further funding for Soil Association Scotland's Food for Life Scotland programme. Food for Life Scotland is working to ensure more people can access fresh, healthy, tasty food, and increase local, seasonal and organic ingredients.  Speaking at the Food for Life Scotland celebration event in the Scottish Parliament this month, Cabinet Secretary Richard Lochhead has announced the further investment for the next funding phase.

In recognition of the importance of the Food for Life Scotland programme across government policy agendas, Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs, Food and Environment, Richard Lochhead, was joined by Minister for Learning, Science and Scotland's Languages Dr Alasdair Allan MSP, and Minister for Public Health Maureen Watt MSP. Laura Stewart, Director of Soil Association Scotland said: “At the Scottish Parliament we celebrated the chefs and the many schools, organisations and producers from across Scotland that are helping to transform our food culture. Whether it’s through the food served in our dining halls, workplaces, leisure centres or visitor attractions, the learning taking place inside the classroom or indeed in the wider community, these Food for Life champions are coming together behind the scenes to support a better food system.”

More information is available at the Food for Life Scotland website and from the Soil Association Scotland.
