Nürnberg Messe is moving the Biofach and Vivaness trade fair duo from February to July due to the Corona pandemic. Most exhibitors have agreed to the new date, the organisers say.

The organic sector will meet for the first time in summer for Biofach and Vivaness. The organisers officially announced the new date for the world's leading trade fair for organic food and natural cosmetics on Friday. The postponement of the trade fair duo from 15 to 18 February to 26 to 29 July was already considered likely on Thursday. The reason for the new date is the spread of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.

A majority of the exhibitors have agreed to the postponement, Nürnberg Messe informs in a letter to the exhibitors, which is available to organic-market.info. From the end of December until 12 January, exhibitors could vote on whether they were in favour of the July date or not.

The approval quota of 70 per cent of the total net stand area booked, which is necessary for a postponement, was not quite reached, according to information from the organisers on Thursday. Some exhibitors had cancelled their bookings in whole or in part. An "unusually large proportion" had abstained, which the fair management attributed to the fact that the company holidays for many exhibitors did not end until 10 January. They lowered the minimum percentage of net stand space booked that agreeing exhibitors must achieve for a postponement to 58 per cent.

In December, the organisers already ruled out an online version of the fair as it took place in 2021.
