Abcert takes over Eco Control

The organic certification body Abcert took over the natural cosmetics certification body Eco Control GmbH on 1 January. This was announced by Abcert last week.

Eco Control GmbH, which was managed by Joachim Banzhaf in the past years, will continue as an independent subsidiary of Abcert AG. According to the media information, all employees have been taken over. The new managing director is biologist Dr. Ulrike Harant, member of the board of Abcert AG.

"Eco Control GmbH expands our portfolio to include the rapidly growing segment of natural cosmetics products and is therefore an important step for our corporate development," Harant said. The overall German market for natural cosmetics grew by around five per cent in the first half of 2021. As an organic inspection body from the very beginning, Abcert has been certifying companies in the agricultural and food sector for more than 25 years in accordance with the requirements of the EU Organic Regulation and other standards in this area.
