The new IFOAM World Board is elected

At the IFOAM General Assembly that took place in Istanbul on October 16th and 17th 2014 the new IFOAM World Board has been elected for the next three years' period. Under the chair of Katherine DiMatteo (USA), Helmy Abouleish (Ägypten) and IFOAM managing director Markus Arbenz 292 out of 500 IFOAM members from about 40 nations took part at the GA.
In the new world board there are: Roberto Ugas (Peru), Gabriela Soto (Costa Rica), Eva Torremocha (Spain), Manjo Smith (Namibia), Frank Eyhorn (Swizzerland), Matthew John (India), Andre Leu (Australia), Peggy Miars (USA), Gerold Rahmann (Germany) und Zhou Zejiang (China). Andre Leu (Picture) was elected for president for the third time. He gave his thanks to the members for their big confidence that was given to him for the last six years and also for the fantastic cooperation at the board.
There has been 17 candidates for the board, besides the elected ones there also has applied: Dr. M. Reza Ardakani (Iran), Marian Cioceanu (Romania), James Cole (Ghana), Ulrich Hoffmann (France), Matthew Holmes (Canada), Liu Qingdong (China), Gerold Rahmann (Germany) and Juan Pablo Sciurano (Italy).
