Organic Science Day at BioFach

by Redaktion (comments: 0)

The European Innovation Partnership (EIP) for Agriculture is an initiative of the European Commission with the aim of bridging the gap between research and practice. Organic actors have much to contribute to the EIP for Agriculture given the sector's history of strong collaboration across disciplines and between researchers and producers. Organic approaches must receive higher priority on the research and innovation agendas of the EU and Member States, but which research topics are most important for the viability of the organic sector? Which solutions will make your company or farm more competitive?

TP Organics invites farmers, companies and researchers to propose and discuss their top research priorities. The outcome of the workshop will serve as input for the revision of TP Organics' Strategic Research Agenda, which in turn will be used to lobby the EU institutions for dedicated research funding. The speakers are Hans-Jörg Lutzeyer (picture), European Commission, DG Research and Innovation, Eduardo Cuoco, TP Organics, Urs Niggli, Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL), Ilse A. Rasmussen, International Centre for Research in Organic Food Systems (ICROFS).

In the presentation of the 1st draft of the TIPI vision, members of the TIPI council will outline the future context in which research should be carried out, present the state of the art, and provide input on global organic research and innovation needs. Urs Niggli, from FiBL Switzerland will speak to the topic Organic 2025 – the big picture. A critical review of organic farming research world-wide is presented by Maria Wivstad, EPOK, Sweden and Uygun Aksoy, Ege University, Turkey will talk about Global organic research and innovation needs.
