by Redaktion (comments: 0)

More than €8bn per year in food are thrown in the trash in Italy, the Waste Watcher - Knowledge for Expo Report 2014 has revealed. The report was presented by Andrea Segré, President of Last Minute Market, and by Maurizio Pessato, President of SWG in the presence of Maurizio Martina, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Policies, and Delegate for Expo Milano 2015. "Avoid waste" is the appeal that 63% of Italians send out to their country, Expo Milano 2015 reports.

One of the big themes that Expo Milano 2015 is developing is to bring nutritional education to schools through a program which will also include education about domestic waste, Maurizio Martina explains. The abstract of the report on domestic waste in Italy as well as further information are available here.
