French company Lactalis buys Rachel's

by Redaktion (comments: 0)

Rachel's, known for its organic yogurts, has been sold by its former American owners Dean Foods. Rachel's is sold in supermarkets throughout the UK. Aberystwyth-based Rachel's has been been bought by Groupe Lactalis, a subsidiary of BSA International, according to BBC. Former owners Dean Foods said "business as usual" remained at Rachel's, which is understood to employ about 140 people.

Speculation about the future of the company had first emerged last month. A spokeswoman for Dean Foods had said that certain subsidiaries of Dean Foods and B.S.A. International, S.A., a company under common control with Groupe Lactalis, had entered into an agreement in which B.S.A. International would acquire Dean Foods' Rachel's United Kingdom business.
