Over the past fourteen years, the Natural and Organic Awards have set the standard for innovation, quality and commitment in the natural and organic sectors. Hosted by Natural Products magazine and the Soil Association, they have become the benchmark of excellence for the industry. This year’s awards were given out in April at Hammersmith Palais.

Judges Bakery in Hastings received the award for best organic small shop. This green bakery sells handmade treats like pink pig meringues or pastry with sustainable caught herring. Best organic large shop was As Nature Intended in Balham. The company has opened as a high street organic retailer in Chiswick in 2000 and now owns three stores. Its range includes fresh produce, meat, chilled goods, beer and wine as well as an extensive natural remedies department with expert advice. Howies, Cardigan has won the award for best organic delivery / internet site. It is owned by the clothing company Timberland.

The restaurant is funded by Duchy Originals. Rose Geranium Face Balm by Balm Balm has won the prize for best organic beauty and body care product. This 100 % natural and organic skincare range comprises four products that are made from a simple wax and oil formulation.
