Organic Fish Farming in the Province of An Giang / Vietnam

A pilot scheme implemented by the An Giang Fisheries Association coordinated with Binca Seafood Company of Germany in 2004 is shown to be successful, reports the Vietnam News Agency. The organic tra catfish of this farming model, certified by Naturland and the Swiss Import Promotion Programme, is expanding throughout the Mekong Delta province to meet the growing demand. The production increased from just 100 tons in 2004 to 700 tonnes in 2005. In 2006, the demand is estimated to be 1,200 tonnes.
