Italy: Winners of Biocaseus

The fourth edition of the international competition for cheeses from organic farming “Biocaseus 2008” saw the participation of 112 cheeses from 50 dairy farms located in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, France and Greece; half of the cheese coming from Italy, the other half coming from other European countries stressed the international dimension of the fair. The winners of the competition were awarded at BioFach in Nuremberg. Among the companies that received the gold medal were Feta of Kourellas SA Biopan (Greece) and Ricotta Tricotta divine of the Azienda Lischeto Volterra. All winners can be viewed here:


The cheeses were tasted by 32 judges from the Institute for Food Quality and Technology Veneto, delegates from Onaf (National Organization of Cheese Tasters) in Veneto and Friuli and Emilia Romagna, representatives of the Syndicate of Tutela for cheeses, buyers of dairy products of organized distribution from Italy and abroad as well as from consumers.
