International success for Hungarian wine

by Redaktion (comments: 0)

Unexpected success was achieved by the 2009 Cabernet Franc Selection, Eger, which was submitted to the competition Mundus Vini BioFach 2013 by the leading Hungarian organic magazine BioHolMi. (Picture: the winemaker Mr.János Gajdos on the left, Mr. Frühwald to the right)

This great wine was produced by the Gajdos winery and among six others won a Grand Gold Medal, out of more than 5000 competitors. This wine moreover was awarded at the 1st Hungarian Organic Wine Festival in 2012, at the famous Öko-Beach at Gárdony, Lake Velence. As a grant, the BioHolMi ecomagazin (the mediapartner of event) submitted this wine to Mundus Vini to be measured on the world stage.

This is a milestone on the road of success for Hungarian organic wines. Hopefully the II.Hungarian Organic Wine Festival to be held on 11-12 May 2013 will find more precious wines among the candidates. Organisers would welcome international competitors on the event as well (via email).

The Gajdos winery is located in Egerszalók, at the heart of the Eger wine center. The grapes they produce come from the regions of Andornaktálya and Ostoros-Novaj (picture). The winery is converted to organic completely. They use the special "pi” technology during the whole process of winemaking. The famous cuvée of the region is the "Bull’s blood", which is produced by the Gajdos winery as well. The Mundus Vini winner Cabernet Franc may start its own career after its latest success.
