Germany: FA!R 2010 – the trade fair for fair trade

by Redaktion (comments: 0)

Consumer behaviour and lifestyle mean we have an influence on the social and ecological manufacturing conditions of many products - this is what many consumers in Germany and across Europe are increasingly understanding. Fair trade is gaining ground: the traditional fair trade products like coffee, tea and chocolate are holding their ground on the market and many new ones like clothes, flowers, cosmetics, and wood have arrived in the last few years. Despite the economic crisis, the market share of fair trade products is growing rapidly.

This positive development is particularly beneficial for the producers in the so-called developing countries. By now approx. 1.6 million small farmers and agricultural labourers in 58 countries are benefitting from fair trade. They receive a reasonable wage for their work and can invest in their future. At FA!R 2010, the entire diversity of fair trade is shown. The special show “fashion and accessories” offers attractive things which one can wear with a clear conscience. Numerous exhibitors from Germany and the European continent display their latest collections and the trends for the coming year in the Dortmund Westfalenhallen. The fair will take place from September 23 to 25, 2010.
