Eco Vision awarded patent for home compostable Eco Tube package

Eco Vision has announced that the company’s founders have assigned their patent for the home compostable Eco Tube package to the company. Issued as US utility patent #7819251 by the US Patent and Trademark office, it is formally named “paper tube packaging with open end and coated cap.” (Picture). The Eco Tube provides an ideal, eco-friendly packaging solution for lip balms and many other products, such as cosmetics, adhesives, lubricants, stain sticks, and other products formulated for packaging in a tube. Eco Vision designed and manufactures the package, made 100 % from certified post-consumer waste paper, biodegradable adhesives and coatings, and can be printed with soy inks. The Eco Tube, used for Organic Essence’s lip balms, won a coveted Green Packy Award, sponsored by Whole Foods Green Mission Project, at the Natural Foods Expo in the Spring of 2010. 
 
Ellery West, CEO of Eco Vision and developer of the Eco Tube, said, “We are very excited to be awarded a patent for the Eco Tube. This is the first of our much larger portfolio of patented home compostable packaging solutions currently in process. In the United States and Canada, we manufacture our patented, novel packaging for sale to significant consumer product manufacturers and marketers. To do so, we utilize raw materials derived from post-consumer waste and invasive plant species. In the rest of the world, we are actively engaged in licensing our packages to responsible organizations committed to sustainable product container solutions.” West and his wife Gail currently have over ten eco-friendly product solutions in the patent process including toothpaste tubes, produce baskets, jars, pumps/sprayers, and bottles. The company plans to launch manufacturing operations to produce biodegradable, compostable packaging for a variety of US product marketers by the fourth quarter of 2011. The company welcomes international licensing inquiries from responsible manufacturers.
