USA: EcoTulips‘ annual festival

EcoTulips is holding their 3rd annual organic tulip festival in Brightwood, Virginia, USA. 40,000 tulips were planted and many activities are taking place from 24 March to 15 April 2012. Easter activities include an egg hunt and a visit from the “Easter Bunny”. Wine tasting, organic tours at a sister farm and an Eco-Super hero day are also part of the programme. Food vendors are also there to offer free-range pork and vegetables, for example.

EcoTulips has also announced that their company has been granted organic certification from California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF). Certification confirms that the company’s import, warehousing, and sales processes meet the standards of the US Department of Agriculture’s National Organic Program. This makes EcoTulips the only supplier of organic flower bulbs in the USA, the company reports. EcoTulips' product have already been organic since they started importing organic flower bulbs – tulips, daffodils, crocuses and hyacinths - from Holland in 2009.
