East African Organic Conference - a great success

"Sharing achievements made and lessons learned" was the theme of the East African Conference held in Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) from 2 to 4 July 2013. It attracted almost 200 participants from 20 countries, Organic World reports. The conference had one main event and several thematic workshops and seminars on topics such as Participatory Guarantee Systems, Organic Policy, Aquaculture and Local Certification. The participants also had the opportunity to visit the Saba-Saba fair, where organic products were displayed.
 
The conference is well documented and the presentations give a good overview of the current situation in East Africa. All the presentations of the conference, some of which  inform about organic farming policy development in the East African countries, are available at the website of IFOAM
