Calon Wen - first UK dairy company to use QR codes

by Redaktion (comments: 0)

Calon Wen is gearing up to be the first dairy company in the UK to use QR codes on its packs. Consumers can scan the code using a smart phone application, which then starts to play a video that tells the story of the company's organic milk and of the farmers who are involved in production.

Calon Wen is producing milk, cream, butter, and cheese, which are sold through many local independent stores throughout Mid, West and South Wales, as well as through Waitrose, Ocado, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Spar. They also regularly take part in shows and festivals. Their next stop is the Cardiff Cheese festival in September.

The Co-op is owned by 25 farming families from across Wales and has been producing organic dairy products for eleven years. The company is the first dairy in the UK to achieve the Soil Association Ethical Trade Symbol. Various further awards and recognitions were achieved in recent years, including Best Veggie Cheese, Food Producer of the Year, Best Farming Partnership and Outstanding Contribution to Sustainable Development.
