Buyers´ Delegation to India in November 2014

India is sourcing country for many interesting organic raw materials. BioFach India / India Organic, which takes place on 6 - 8 November 2014 in Cochin / Kerala, is a good occasion to get to know Indian companies and the market or to discover new products. An authentic impression of the work of organic farmers, of their products and of the land and people in general is to gain best through site visits. The Indian Association of Organic Agriculture ICCOA takes care of projects all over India and it is a concern to open access for Indian organic raw materials markets in the USA and Europe. Therefore ICCOA offers three attractive trips for company representatives and international buyers. The three different packages include the round-trip flight, accomodation and trade fair visit with matchmaking meetings and trips to organic producers as well as a tourist program to get to know the country.

Package 1 (5 days): After 2.5 days on the fair, the group travels to Kumarakom/ Kerala for a house boat trip in the world´s largest backwaters. Package 2 (10 days): After the trade fair you can relax during a house boot trip in Kerala. Then the Idukki district attracts with plenty of nature, mountains and water. Here a couple of projects will be visited, e.g. growers of tea, cocoa, ginger, nutmeg, pepper, mooringa and tumeric. The journey continues to the Tamil Nadu state, to Theni and Kodaikanal, where more projects will be visited. In between there will be enough possibilities to experience the vibrant Indian rural life and culture, such as the temples of Madurai. Package 3 (10 days): The journey starts after the days on the trade fair, again with a backwater boat trip. Next destination is Nilambur, which is famous for it´s teak woods, for the cultivation of tea and spices. Furthermore, the tour heads to the most northern state of India, Jammu & Kashmir, where organic farms produce spices, cereals, rice and all kinds of pulses. In the city of Sriganar the University of Agriculture will be visited. Of course the program also contains culture and sightseeing. (Pictures: Himalaya region, above; mango growers in Odisha)
