Biodomenica in Italy

by Redaktion (comments: 0)

On October 5, 2008, the annual event Biodomenica will be back – a day dedicated to organics organized by AIAB (picture), Legambiente and Coldiretti. On piazzas of 100 Italian cities, visitors will have the possibility to compare organic products like fresh vegetables, honey and bread. In each city the initiative will be characterized by typical local products: in Naples, one will be able to enjoy pizza made with organic ingredients, Genoa offers organic pesto as a local speciality, organic wine is the main product in Rome, and Florence specializes on organic oil and Sardinia on nougat. Games and shows are also part of the programme. Thanks to the collaboration with the Corriere della Sera, about one million of flyers will be distributed this year.

Biodomenica does not only promote consumption of safe quality products, related to the territory, traditions and culture, but also raises awareness for production techniques and environmentally friendly farming practices. The central theme of Biodomenica 2008 is that organic farming, together with good practices of consumers, is an important factor to counter climate change. On Biodomenica, space will be given to associations and companies involved in renewable energy, reuse and recycling of waste and in sustainable mobility.
