BioFach America: Excellent development of the US market

After a brilliant start at the Baltimore location in autumn 2011, NürnbergMesse is looking forward to its next appearance at Natural Products Expo East, when BioFach America – All Things Organic invites the sector to the Baltimore Convention and Exhibition Centre again from 20 to 22 September 2012. The main players are organic companies from North and South America, Europe and Asia.

Innovations and established products from the food and non-food segments, raw materials as well as equipment and services are presented on the exhibition platform for the expected 20,000 visitors. In view of the excellent development of the market in the USA, the presence at the exhibition should attract a particularly good response. Sales of organics in the USA climbed by 9.5 % in 2011 over the previous year to reach 31.5 billion US$ (24 billion euros). Organic fruit and vegetables contributed almost 50 % to this upturn. The fastest growing category was meat, poultry and fish with plus 13 %, although from a low level. The organic share of the total American food market rose by 0.2 % to 4.2 %. The prospects for the current year and for 2013 are still rated as positive by the market experts, who expect growth rates of 9 % and more.
