UK: First university with two Food for Life catering marks

by Redaktion (comments: 0)

Lancaster University is the first university in the UK to be awarded two prestigious gold Food for Life catering marks. The Soil Association has awarded its restaurants, Café 21 and The Lounge, with this mark for serving fresh and healthy meals using local and organic ingredients.

The university strives to provide great quality food for all of its students, staff and visitors. Lancaster’s food strategy ensures the university is dedicated to reducing negative impacts as far as possible and recognises the importance of working closely with local suppliers and supply chains. The allotment on the campus also provides the university with additional fresh ingredients and herbs. In addition to being awarded two gold catering marks, Lancaster University has achieved silver and bronze catering marks in four other campus food outlets as well as at the pre-school centre.
