More keynote speakers confirmed for Organic World Congress

Yemi Akinbamijo, Elisabeth Atangana, Anna Lappé and Jason Clay were now confirmed as further keynote speakers at the Organic World Congress to be held in Istanbul on 13-15 October 2014.
 
Dr. Yemi Akinbamijo is the Executive Director of FARA (Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa). A Nigerian national, he has spent the past 28 years of his career in Africa and Europe working in the international agriculture, food security and rural development domain. He has published extensively and served on several international research panels.


Elisabeth Atangana is a farmer by profession. She has been the president of PROPAC (Sub-regional Platform of Peasant Organizations of Central Africa) from 2005 until today. In 2012, she was appointed as the Special Ambassador for Cooperatives by FAO. She has made it a priority to take into account the specificity of women and rural youth in policies and strategies for sustainable development.

 

Jason Clay leads the market transformation work of WWF-US for agriculture, aquaculture, business and industry, finance, fisheries and forests. Over the course of his career, he has worked on a family farm and in the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He has taught at Harvard and Yale and spent more than 30 years with human rights and environmental organizations. He is the author of more than 15 books and he won the James Beard Award in 2012.

 

Anna Lappé is a bestselling author and a nationally recognized advocate for organic farming and justice along the food chain. She co-founded the Small Planet Institute, an international network for research and popular education. She currently directs the Real Food Media Project, which produces videos, online movie contests, events, and educational resources to educate, inspire, and grow the movement for sustainable food and farming.
