Italy: Apulian observatory on organic farming

The Observatory on Organic Farming for the Apulia Region has been launched, realised through the Department of Food Resources of the Apulia Region and implemented with technical support from the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari, AIAB reports.

The observatory, established under the Regional Programme for the Development of Organic Farming in Apulia, aims at improving the knowledge of operators of the farming and agro-food sector on the techniques of organic farming. It also intents to encourage the consumption of organics by supplying valuable information to citizens. The use of the observatory is obligatory for all organic operators of this region. They use the regional portal "Biobank Open Project"  on www.biologicopuglia.it for inserting and updating data of their organic operation. The site initially runs on an experimental basis.
