The Spanish organic red wine Franchete Barrique 2005 has won the silver medal at the international organic wine contest Mundus Vini BioFach 2013. It is one of the organic wines of Vinos Cambronero from Fuentealbilla (Albacete, Spain). Franchete Barrique 2005 has won this award for its outstanding quality, as assessed by more than 50 jurors from 14 countries, who gathered in the German town of Neustadt on 11 December 2012.

The winners of the contest will be officially announced on 13 February during BioFach 2013. Vinos Cambronero will be present at the fair with the award-winning wine in hall 5 at stand 252 and at the IFOAM stand as one of their sponsors.

Franchete Barrique 2005 is made by grape varieties Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Bobal and Garnacha Tintorera. Produced in a traditional winery with controlled fermentation temperature, with frequent over pumping and average maceration, and matured in oak barrels for three months, the colour is cherry red with purplish tinges. It has a strong bouquet, a combination of fruity aromas, with toasty and dark-roasted scents. It is balanced and round on the palate, with a smooth and slightly tannic finish.

The same wine was previously awarded the silver medal at the XII Tasting of Wines of Ciudad de Córdoba (2006) and the bronze medal at the national contest of wines from organic grapes EcoRacimo (2008). It had 89 points at the “Peñín Guide 2009” and won the silver medal at the VI Tasting of Wines from Organic Agriculture Ciudad de Estella-Lizarra Hiria (2010).
