Italy: Biol international prize for olive oil

Biol, the competition that compares and awards the best organic extra virgin olive oils of various continents, is now in its eighteenth edition. There will be a rich program of cultural, gastronomic and technical events in Andria (Apulia) that will support the international competition from 13 to 15 March 2013. Biol aims at exploiting the differences and therewith the cultural heritages that characterise the world of extra virgin olive oil, Biol reports. Registration for companies that produce, bottle or trade with organic olive oil will be closed on 31 January 2013. Several prizes will be awarded: Premio Biol for the best organic olive oil, Biolpack for the best packaging, and BiolKids, awarded by children. Biol is sponsored by IFOAM and the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, and is held in cooperation with local authorities including the Apulia Region, the City of Andria, the Chamber of Commerce of Bari, as well as the BiolItalia Association and Consorzio Puglia Natura.
